THE PEASANT PRINCE DANCES INTO GRIFFITH

The award-winning Monkey Baa Theatre Company returns to the stage with its highly acclaimed production of ‘The Peasant Prince’ at Griffith Regional Theatre on Monday 16 September.
This Australian play, based on the extraordinary life of Li Cunxin, the author of the iconic autobiography Mao’s Last Dancer, and is tailored for young audiences.
Following the global success of Mao’s Last Dancer and its subsequent children’s picture book The Peasant Prince, this play brings Li’s incredible journey to life with an adaptation that resonates with young and old alike.
Griffith Regional Theatre Manager, Marg Andreazza said, “This show is perfect for everyone whether you are young or old, and it is the story of courage, resilience and unwavering hope.”
“The play tells the remarkable true story of Li Cunxin’s journey from impoverished rural China to the international dance scene.”
Leading up to the show, young people between the age of 5 – 12 years are invited to participate in a colouring in competition, with the winners winning a family pass to the show. The competition closes on 2 September 2024, and can be downloaded from the Theatre website or picked up from the Box Office.
