Activate Olympic Street

Griffith City Council is thrilled to announce its success in obtaining $116,000 under the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program led by Transport for NSW.
This funding will allow Olympic Street and the Griffith Youth Precinct to be turned into a bustling hub of community engagement and entertainment.
The activation will run on Friday 22 November, Saturday 23 November and Sunday 24 November 2024, and will include a variety of events and attractions such as:
  • Markets showcasing local goods and produce
  • Public art installations and artist workshops
  • Skate and BMX demonstrations
  • A diverse range of food trucks
  • Youth activities
  • Live music performances
The Open Streets Program is designed to temporarily close streets to vehicles and open them to people, transforming spaces with dynamic placemaking activations. The Program aims to inject vibrancy into our streets, fostering thriving local places that support businesses, creative sectors, and the wider community through engaging events and activities.

For more information or to get involved in the weekend, please contact Council’s Open Space Planning Officer Jason Bertacco on 1300 176 077.
