Get Ready To Take To The Stage For Grass Roots Open Mic Comp

Monday, 03 Jun 2024

Get Ready To Take To The Stage For Grass Roots Open Mic Comp The highly anticipated Grass Roots Open Mic competition returns to Griffith Regional Theatre on Sunday 4 August at 2pm, and this year marks a significant milestone.
Now in its fifth year, the competition is breaking new ground by opening its doors to musicians of all ages, expanding beyond its previous under-30s restriction. This inclusive change aims to celebrate and showcase the diverse musical talents within our entire community.
The competition will feature two distinct sections: Under 21s and Opens, providing a platform for young emerging artists as well as seasoned performers. Within these sections, participants will have the opportunity to vie for prestigious accolades in three categories: Best Original Song, Best Performance, and Judge's Choice. With six prizes up for grabs, the Grass Roots Open Mic Competition promises to be an exciting experience for all involved.
Musicians interested in participating must register by Monday 29 July 2024. Registration is available online at the Griffith Regional Theatre website. Don't miss your chance to be part of this dynamic event and share your musical talents with a supportive and enthusiastic audience.
"We're thrilled to open the competition to all ages this year," says Marg Andreazza, Griffith Regional Theatre Manager.
"Grass Roots has always been about discovering and nurturing local talent, and this change allows us to embrace a broader range of musicians. We can't wait to see the amazing performances and original songs our community has to offer."
“Grass Roots is about celebrating music, creativity, and community spirit. Whether you're a singer-songwriter, a band, or a solo performer, this is your chance to shine on stage and connect with fellow musicians and music lovers.”
Grass Roots has seen many talented young musicians from across the region take the opportunity to gain experience and exposure through the program. Some have gone on to pursue a profession in music by writing and releasing songs, formal training through education and playing at festivals.
The competition will be judged by Grass Roots founder and local musician Ben Ceccato, along with the committee members of ARTFARM, Luke Piccolo and Bonnie Owen, who have been judging the event since its beginning in 2019.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, 4 August at 2pm and start preparing your best material. It's time to let your music be heard! Entries close Monday 29 July and can be found on the Theatre website. For more information about the competition please contact the Theatre.
Furthermore, music enthusiasts and supporters are encouraged to attend as audience members and witness the exceptional talent on display. Tickets for the Grass Roots Open Mic competition are $10 and available from the Box Office, by calling 6962 8444 or visiting www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au
Grass Roots is presented by Griffith Regional Theatre and ARTFARM.
