Griffith’s drinking water supply and quality will not be interrupted by MI works on main canal

Murrumbidgee Irrigation is currently conducting maintenance on the main canal. As part of these works the canal has been temporarily drained. Council would like to reassure residents that the quality and reliability of the town’s drinking water will not be affected during this time. Given raw water is accessed from Hayes Lease, there will be no alternative source utilised while works are being undertaken.
To ensure uninterrupted water supply during this period, adequate storage has been allocated within the Hayes Lease Reservoir until all necessary works have been conducted.
Mayor Doug Curran would like to reassure the Griffith Community, “that the quality and supply of water will not be affected, as provisions have been put in place to store additional water in Hayes Lease during this period.”
