Griffith City Council's Australia Day Award Nominations Open

Each year residents within the Griffith City Council Local Government Area are invited to nominate fellow citizens for the Australia Day Awards. The aim of the awards are to recognise outstanding contributions to the local community in 2024 and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years.

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW EXTENDED and will close Friday, 6 December 2024 at 4pm.

Nominations can be made across nine different categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year (Nominees must be under 25 years as at 26 January 2025)
  • Environmental Citizen of the Year
  • Young Environmental Citizen of the Year
  • Community Project of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Sports Team of the Year
  • Club Person of the Year

Award winners will be announced at the  Australia Day Award Ceremony in January 2025 at Griffith Regional Theatre. New citizens will also be welcomed at this ceremony.
