Mixed Media Workshop with Sophie Chauncy

Mixed Media Workshop with Sophie Chauncy

Available to those 18 years and over.
Dive into the diverse world of mixed media art with local artist Sophie Chauncy. This workshop is for beginners to those more experienced, as it is designed to focus on experimentation and an observational approach to viewing natural found materials. Under Sophie’s exploratory tuition, participants will work in watercolours, pastels, inks and other drawing mediums throughout the duration of the three-hour workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring in natural materials from home including flowers, leaves or plants.

Sophie Chauncy
Sophie Chauncy has studied Visual Arts at the National Art School in Sydney before completing her degree in Visual Arts at UOW. In recent years, as part of the Regional Arts Development Program (RAD), Sophie has undertaken a 4-week artist residency in the E3 Space at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery. A 3-week artist residency in outback Western Australia took her to an old sheep and cattle station which extended her research into agriculture and biodiversity. From this experience, two solo exhibitions were inspired. ‘Ocean to Outback’ at ROR Space in Griffith and more recently, ‘Nurture’ at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery.

‘Trails’ is Sophie Chauncy’s first solo exhibition at the Griffith Regional Art Gallery and will be showing from 14 July to 4 August.
