Cancer Council NSW - Transport to Treatment Service
9am - 5pm Monday - Friday
Cancer Council NSW provides free transport for eligible Cancer patients and their carers for cancer related appoinments in Wagga Wagga. Volunteer Drivers are also required.
Cancer Council NSW has purchased a vechicle to be located in Griffith to provide free transport for eligible Cancer patients to travel to Wagga for cancer related appoinments. Volunteers are encouraged to register to drive the vehicle to apporintments as required.
Patient Eligibility
Service operates only for the communities with in the catachment of Griffith, Hanwood, Leeton, Narrandera and Galore. Can only access the service if there is no access to other alternative transport arrangements including family, friends, and community transport.
Patients must obtain a referral from a Social Worker, Cancer Care Coordinator, Community Nurse or relevant Health Care Professional. Patients must also meet the eligibility criteria list on the application form.
An application form must be lodged by 5pm the Wednesday prior to travel the week following.
Allocation will be on a first in best dressed basis. Seating priority will be given to cancer patients. Any vacant seats can be filled by accommpanying Carers.
Volunteer Driver Registration
Volunteers are encouraged to apply to become a driver for this free service.
All applicants must has a full current drivers licence and be willing to undertake a full NSW Police Check.
Sucessful applicants will recieve specialised training and ongoing support.
