Set amongst 11 hectares of picturesque bush land, Pioneer Park Museum is a Council run open air facility dedicated to preserving the history of Griffith and its surrounds. The Museum’s Collection is full of original local buildings, horse drawn and motorised vehicles, old farm machinery and broad range of antiques specifically used in the local area.
The Museum is a popular tourist destination in Griffith with visitors enjoying our popular attractions including the Italian Museum, the Wine & Irrigation Centre and The Knitted Garden displays.
Facilities and Events
The Action Day at Pioneer Park Museum’s biggest event of the year held on Good Friday. The Museum fills to capacity with local and visitors who come to experience the best of what the Museum has to offer. Attractions include sheep shearing demonstrations, riding on a horse drawn wagon, touring in the open air Museum train, firing up of the old machinery, tasting local food, playing traditional childhood games plus many other hands on traditional experiences.
Griffith Pioneer Park Museum is used widely by the community as a function centre with numerous facilities available throughout the year catering for weddings, family, sporting and cultural celebrations. Enquiries are welcome with all funds raised supporting the Museum’s upkeep.
Volunteers Wanted
Volunteers are the backbone of the Museum with many and various interesting roles and jobs available, see blelow. All volunteers will be provided training:
● reception and tours
● gardening and maintenance
● catering
● maintaining and cleaning displays and facilities
● collection management & exhibitions
