GIS (Mapping)

Griffith City Council Geographic Information System (GIS) department administer Council's geospatial datasets (also known as layers). GIS enables staff to display, manipulate, analyse and interact with the geospatial data to create informative products for internal and external government organisations, private businesses and the general public.

As part of GIS standard product range, Griffith City Council has a number of large maps which are available for purchase from the Customer Service counter. They include but are not limited to:

City of Griffith A0 street map

Griffith Local Government Area (LGA) A0 road map

Griffith Local Environment Plan (LEP) A0 maps

In addition, GIS can provide customised map products to suit the user requirements. Council has numerous geospatial layers that can be represented in map form. These include:

  • Cadastre (property boundaries)
  • Council assets, e.g. water mains, sewer mains, road network
  • Property address information
  • Local Environment Plan zones
  • Environmental data, e.g. wetlands, remnant vegetation
  • Aerial photography up to 20cm urban resolution
  • Elevation and contour information

Maps can be printed in full colour, minimal colour or black and white. Map sizes can range from A4 standard size to A0 standard size. Paper dimensions are displayed below for your reference.

Map sale prices are based on variables such as map size, amount of colour ink used, and whether it is a standard or custom made map.  As a result the sale price can vary, and should be confirmed at the time of the inquiry. Please note, some data layers are subject to pre-approval and may include data share agreements. In addition to map products Griffith City Council GIS can also provide services that include:

  • Electronic maps in various formats such as .jpeg, .png, .pdf
  • Individual data sets in a variety of formats including MapInfo, Esri shapefile, CAD .dwg and .csv
  • Contract GIS mapping services for projects
